Full. Time. Job. I have dealt with doctor’s offices, pharmacies, and insurance for two weeks. I am beginning to control my symptoms with medication and diet. BUT, when the doctor does not refill my script the pharmacy sends to them (giving 48 hours until I am out) my symptoms come back with a vengeance.
Last week I had a migraine from Sunday to Wednesday, with a migraine hangover Thursday and Friday. All this pain was due to crazy hormones thanks to PCOS. The birth control helps control the hormone migraines. I put in for my refill the week before I needed it. The pharmacy told me the doctor had not sent the refill order, so I call the office Monday (no meds), I called pharmacy and doctor’s office on Tuesday (still no meds), finally Wednesday I bugged someone enough to get my medication. It was for my birth control! Not a controlled substance!
The week I needed a refill on Metaprolol, a blood pressure medication I use to control my heart rate due to Post Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I began having problems with my heart rate this summer. We think the Hydrocodone was slowing my heart rate, one of the many reasons Codine is dangerous. For me it was covering the symptoms of POTS. Metoprolol helps a great deal to keep my heart rate under 100, usually around 80. I call the pharmacy two days before I would be out. It took three days of calling the doctor’s office and the pharmacy to get my prescription, 1 day late.
This is one reason I still cannot go back to work. Besides the fatigue and inability to stand more than 15 minuets, who would hire someone who MAY need time off because their doctor’s office and pharmacy cannot get together to get medication filled. Sure, I would hire me immediately! (Said dripping with sarcasm).
I am also dealing with the great and wonderful Obama Care (sarcasm again). Since my wonderful husband is still on medical leave from an Arterial Dissection which caused a stroke (yes I think we are cursed at times), we are bring in very little money. The Healthcare Market Place said I do not make enough money to qualify for insurance, not lying!! BUT I also do not qualify for Medicaid (due to a Missouri Medicaid loop hole)!!! WHAT, I AM TOO POOR FOR OBAMA CARE! WASN’T THIS THE ENTIRE REASON FOR OBAMA CARE!
Okay I am finished with my rant. It is difficult to have a Chronic Illness. I do not know how many times I hear people saying, “What do you do all day? Watch TV? Don’t you want to work? Can’t you work part time? Aren’t you bored?” When I have energy I am generally working on insurance issues. Yes, I would love to work. However, this is where I am, and my Mama always says Bloom Where You are Planted.
