Today is my Miracle Day!!! Five years ago Sept 10th I was put on Life Support with COVID in Critical Care Unit at Cox Health. I woke up from the medically induced coma on Sept 18th. On the 25th I came home. SEVEN DAYS after I had difficulty waking up I was home. To put this in perspective, a patient generally stays in the hospital for a week for every day they were on life support. So instead of 9 weeks I was there 7 days!
JC and Ella fasted on the 17th, and God brought me out of the coma on the 18th! What a powerful experiace for Ella to see God’s amazing power and the power of prayer.
List of Miracles-
*I survived long enough to be air evac to Springfield.
*I survived life support for 10 days, fighting the terrible symptoms
*I woke up, they didn’t expect me to wake up for a few days or weeks.
*I went home 7 days after waking up.
*I had minimal permentat damage all things considered.
Miracles since 2020
*I have had several amazing opportunities to improve my health. I had the best Ear, Nose &Throat doctor in St Louis fix the scar tissue in my voice box. After two surgerys I was able to get rid of my constent Oxygen machine! When we went up to St. Louis we turned the trips into mini vacations.
*Because of COVID I officially have a blood clotting disorder. Due to this I had to go to a Oncologist Obstetrician Surgeon. When I had my hysterectomy in 2021 Dr. Gillis found Endometreosis on my bowels. She took out as much as she could. This was the major source of abdominal pain for years before Covid! I was able to eat again without pain. as well as being able to go outside, church, ect. I still have some pain, but so far it is managagble
*I took this awakening as a starting point to the next stage in my life. I have always wanted to do advocacy work. I put in an application for the Alliance of Headache Disorder Advocacy and Headache On the Hill. In 2024 I fulfilled a life long dream of visiting Washington DC, and I had meetings with staffers of my representatives in Congress!! Since 2024 Ella Sue and I have particiapted in the Virtual Headache On the Hill (HOH) last September, and next week we have our second virtual HOH. We are praying and preparing to go to the in person HOH day in 2026.
*Since Covid I have been driving again. I didn’t drive for almost 10 years because of my headaches and gastro problems. In 2021 I drove myself to the doctor in Theodosia! I still cannot drive long distances but around town I do okay
*Ella has seen a great deal of healthcare in person. We wanted her to see it wasn’t such a bad experience. Now she wants to be a nurse, right now she is thinking ICU or ER. I need a nurse in my family. 😁
We have seen miracles, both big and little. I cannot think of a better way for Ella to know the love of God.
I am very blessed to be alive and well. I still deal with daily headaches, but since being on disability I have good insurance and can afford the new Migraine medications. So the intensity of the headaches is getting better. But certain food, storms, and menopause still trigger nasty attacks. I still battle depression and anxiety with meds and therapy.
God is a God of miracles and I am so blessed to see them in my life. Please send up a prayer of thanks for all He has done.
